Uso de A/an y cero articulo(1)
PARTE 1

Usualmente usamos the cuando hablamos sobre cosas que son únicos,solo hay uno de ellos o un conjuntos de ellos:

Ejemplos:

the world                the sky           the sun                the sea             the ground            

the horizon            the atmosphere            the human race           the arms trade

También usamos the con áreas geográficas  en general como:

the forest     the town          the countryside             the country       the beach

Hay que tener cuidado y darse cuenta que algunos sustantivos pueden ser usado sin articulo para refereirse a un concepto en general.Ejemplo: 

• In autumn the temperature difference between land and sea reduces( or ... the land and the sea....)

• Climate is one of the many factors involved in changing farming methods (or The climate)

Si queremos describir una ocasión en particular de estas podemos usar a/an. compara:

• I could see the plane high up in the sky . and
• when I woke up there was a bright blue sky.
• What are your plans for the future? and
• She dreamt of a future where she could spend more time painting

Podemos usar the hacemos generalizaciones sobre diferentes tipos de cosas usando sustantivos singulares contables.Compara el uso entre the y a/an.

• The computer has revolutionised publishing.(Aquí se refiere al computador en general)
  pero no, A computer has revolutionised publishing( los computadores en general han hecho esto, no uno solamente).

• The computer is an important research tool. and, A computer is an important research tool.( Esta oración es verdadera de ambos en la clase general y el item individual)

Como alternativa a the+singular countable noun usamos un sustantivo plural contable para hablar de una clase de cosas:

• Computers are an important research tool.
• Cats are one of the cutest animals in the world.(solo es un ejemplo)

Tenga en cuenta !!! que si the  se usa con sustantivos plurales e incontables.Nos referimos a cosa o grupo en específico. Ejemplos:

• The computers have arrived. Where shall I put them?
• The music was wonderful.I could have listened to the orchestra all night.

Cuando definimos o decimos algo que es típico de una clase particular de personas o cosas, generalmente se usa a/an en vez de the .Ejemplos:

• A corkscrew is a gadget for getting corks out of bottles.
• A garden is there to give you pleasure, not to be a constant worry.
